TIFF VR POSTERS
BELL x TIFF 2018 – VR FILM POSTERS SERIES
For the 2018 Toronto International Film Festival, Bell showcased a selection of immersive VR films, pushing the boundaries of storytelling through emerging technology. To support the activation and draw audiences into the world of virtual reality, Bell needed a series of lobby posters — one for each film being featured in their VR experience zone.
I was commissioned to illustrate a collection of posters, each tailored to the themes and tone of the individual films. Rather than applying a single visual style across the board, I took a more adaptive approach — interpreting each film’s narrative and mood through a stylized cut-paper aesthetic, using layers and textures to create a playful sense of depth and “3D” dimension. This visual approach not only echoed the immersive nature of VR but also gave each piece a tactile, handcrafted feel.
To tie the series together, every illustration was framed within a set of stylized VR goggles — creating a cohesive look while referencing the core technology at the heart of the experience. The result was a striking, unified poster series that captured the imagination of festival-goers and elevated Bell’s presence at TIFF as a leader in next-generation storytelling.
